Now that Joe has won The X-Factor all eyes are turning to whether he will take the Christmas Number One slot. In recent years the Christmas top tune has been taken by the X-Factor winner, but this year there's a push by the public to get Rage Against the Machine's Killing in the Name Of to top the charts. The bookmakers still have Joe as favourite for Christmas No.1! Ladbrokes offer 3/10 whilst RATM are 2/1, the best place alternative. Lady Gaga is 20/1 and the rest are outsiders. It's a sad state of affairs for the bookmakers. The Christmas No.1 was never a dead cert and long gone are the days of some naff Christmas tune being taken to the Nation's heart. Instead we get a naff tune from the factory of reality TV.
Paddy Power are also confident that Joe will be Number 1 on Christmas Day. Their book is open for all acts other than the X-Factor winner and RATM is 1/18 to win that race.
Even the album chart has Simon Cowell's sticky mits all over as Susan Boyle, or SuBo, is 1/50 to top that particular tree come the 25th December.
Perhaps after all we should have had Jedward winning X-Factor - at least that way we could have had a novelty act at No.1. The only downside the song would have been some durge chosen by Mr Cowell! Perhaps next year he will see fit to give the winning act a real Christmas tune?
