With The Premiership season about to come to an end on Sunday 24th May and Manchester United already crowned champions all eyes will be on who's going down to The Championship. West Bromich Albion have boinged their way back down already, but which of the four north east clubs will join them? Following their 3-1 defeat on Monday night against Portsmouth, Sunderland still aren't safe. With 36 points and a home game against Chelsea to determine their survival it's going to be an uncomfortable afternoon at The Stadium of Light if results start to go against them. Skybet, however, think that Sunderland are fairly safe and have them at 7/1 to go down. Could be worth a punt.
Middlesborough though are doomed in the bookies eyes as they're 1/80 to go down. To survive they'll not only need to win but also hope Newcastle lose and that Hull get a thrashing at the hands of Manchester United to overturn an inferior goal difference.
Hull have their fate in their own hands and many people will be looking to see whether Manchester United feel a "weakened" team against The Tigers. After a good start to the season Hull have struggled with Premiership life and luck has deserted them. They're 8/5 to hold on!
It's not good news for Newcastle United though and defeat on a tough trip to Aston Villa could seal their relegation fate. A single point against Villa and a Hull defeat however could be the slender difference to determine which division The Geordies end up in. Skybet have them 1/2 for the drop.
Whatever happens it promises to be a dramatic climax to the end of the season. It does look like a straight fight between Hull and Newcastle for the third relegation spot, but we think there's a twist in the tale still to come. Could Newcastle pull of a shock win and relegate their North East rivals on the last day? Surely not?
